The Spa at Turnberry combines a coastal hotel, extensive golf and a thermal spa overlooking the Firth of Clyde, around an hour from Glasgow by road. It is particularly suited to travellers who want links golf and structured recovery within the same resort.

Why visit The Spa at Turnberry?

The spa’s 65-foot infinity pool looks towards the Ayrshire coast. It is supported by a thermal hot tub, bio sauna, Finnish sauna, steam room, experience shower and ice fountain. Current treatments include Natura Bissé skincare, ishga seaweed therapies, deep-tissue massage, hydrotherapy and cold-assisted recovery.

A relevant option for golfers is the Quirogolf massage, a Natura Bissé treatment that uses golf balls with targeted massage techniques to address muscular tension, stiffness and trigger points. It provides a considered recovery link rather than simply placing a spa beside a golf course.

Golf and movement

The golf offering includes the 18-hole Ailsa and King Robert the Bruce courses, supported by the Golf Academy and shorter practice options. Trump’s Twelve, the resort’s new 12-hole par-three course, opened in August 2026 on the former Arran Course site. Golf Monthly reported holes ranging from roughly 70 to 206 yards with multiple teeing options. Confirm current tee-time access and operating arrangements directly with the resort when planning the stay.

The two principal courses have different yardages and demands, so travellers should match course choice, tee availability and walking requirements to their ability. Spa treatments are best reserved with enough time after the round rather than immediately against a tee-time schedule.

The spa experience

Guests can move through a heat, cold and rest sequence before or after treatment. Spa days currently include two hours of pool and thermal access before treatment, while treatment-only bookings include one hour; inclusions can change and should be checked when reserving.

The treatment menu ranges from facials and relaxation massage to deep-tissue work, hydrotherapy bathing and specialist recovery. Some newer treatments are still marked as coming soon on the official menu, so they have not been treated as established facilities here.
